Simplicity...

It's a lot tougher to come by in this day and age than you might think.

As I type, a song floats through the open window: "They say your life is like a yellow brick road. That's nice, mine's like a maze."

Life is complicated, thanks to the twists and turns of Fate. And it's even more so when you throw human variables into the mix - text, subtext, sub-subtext - too many words, too little coherent meaning. Unfortunately, for all practical purposes there's no avoiding that (unless, lucky you, you're a hermit).

So that's today's sentiment in a nutshell: simplicity, highly underrated, often frustratingly elusive.

But for a few brief moments of bliss, I hold a little simplicity here, in my hands, in row upon row of stocking stitch that I work tirelessly as if I could build a cocoon, a shield, a safe haven from complication.

But failing that, hopefully it will be at the very least a useful summer garment. That's the simplest I dare hope for.
